Paediatric HIV

AGPAHI has been working in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Community Development,Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDGEC) together with all the supported four regions and council health management teams to continue the scale up of the Accelerated Childrens Treatment (ACT) initiative.

The activities were geared towards increasing the number of HIV positive children on treatment and improving paediatric ART management and quality of care.

Some of the AGPAHI Pediatric ART achievements in this project include:
  • Increased number of children on treatment (From 2,975 in 2015 to 10,508 in June 2020)
  • Increased proportion of children retained on ART (from 78% in 2015 to 98% June 2020)
  • Improved paediatric ART Optimization coverage from 25% in 0ctober 2019 to 97% in August 2020
Establishment of children and adolescents support clubs (Ariel Clubs) have shown to ensure adherence to meditation and retention to care for children and adolescents.

These clubs provide treatment support education and life skills training thus giving hope and purpose for the participants.
